Camera Obscura
Now in other random moments of my life, I went to Camera Obscura's show at the El Rey in LA. For some odd reason, I have this thing for Scottish people.Maybe it's their culture, their music scene, and accents that I find really interesting. But anyway, I found out about Camera Obscura just last year after listening to Morning Becomes Eclectic podcast of their performance. I was blown away by just how simple the songs were and heart-touching to the formerly depressed folks like myself. Not to deviate from the topic, I drove by myself to LA (which took me a surprisingly 25 min.) to meet up my Korean friend Cindy and her collective at some KoreanBBQ resteraunt in Koreatown. The traffic in this area is horrendous and the parking was just goddamn awful. After waiting 15 min., I called her up that I'm just going to leave for the El Rey because I thought I was running late for the show. Boy was I wrong. I was one of the first 10 people waiting in line.. Once I got inside the building, I decided to use the restroom. I don't know why I left a $1 tip for the waiter because all he did was give me a paper towel. When I walked out, guess who I managed to see, the actual band walking around. Tracyanne (the lead singer) gave me a look wondering why I'm staring at in such stalking fashion. After that moment of awkward silence, I told her myself and how much their music made me feel good about myself inside. Too bad I didn't ask for an autograph or something.
As I waited for the band, hipsters (those pretentious little fucks, j/k.) with their obvious fakeness annoyd the fuck out of me. After 20 min., the first act came. The opening band was alright but a bit boring. Think Donovan-esque folk setand you got this band (I think they were called Portastic)
When Camera Obscura rolled in, they kicked the set with "Come Back Margaret". During the middle of their set before "If Looks Could Kill", there was a moment of silence between the audience and the band. Trying to make an ass of myself, I yelled out "I Love You Tracyanne!" and she responded to my warcry "Thanks?". Everyone was laughing in the front row for sure. Before the song "I Need All the Friends I Can Get", Tracyanne asked for help from the audience. This was my moment to shine so I decided to climb aboard the stage and offer my clapping abilities. Man was it a bit tiring just providing claps to the song. As soon as the song ended, I shook the trumpet player Francois's hand asking him if he's from glasgcow. Some asshole told me, "No, he's from scotland". Douchebag, Glasgcow is in Scotland. But I was wrong regardless as he told me he's from France. Before I went down to the pit, I was thinking of doing an attempt of stage shenanngans. I was planning to do the Borat handshake (handshake and kiss on the cheeks) to every single band member, but I know I was bound to get kicked out. I even planned out a stage dive, but I was such a pussy to even try. Instead, I just gave a warm hug to Tracyanne and told her "I want to marry a Scottish lass someday". She laughed. That made me feel good. I turned what could've been a boring night into a memorable night. The show was good, I hope they come back.

I love you Tracyanne.
I will write movie and music reviews later on this month.
